4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as
follows:
a. First article inspection (See 4.3).
b. Conformance inspection (See 4.4).
4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified all verifications shall be performed in
accordance with the test conditions specified herein.
4.3 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article verification.
4.3.1 First article quantity. The first article inspection shall be performed on the quantities listed
in Table VI. The first article samples shall be manufactured using the same methods, materials,
equipment, processes, inspections, in-process tests and facilities as will be used in full-rate
production. All material shall be obtained from the same sources of supply as will be used in
regular production.
4.3.2 Inspections to be performed. The first article inspection shall be performed in accordance
with Table VI.
